In just four days it will have been a month since I've arrived in Edinburgh. Where has the time gone? Although it seems like forever until I'll be back in Chapel Hill, I know that my time here is going to fly by and it already has.

Last Saturday, Sarah, Lina and I took the train to Glasgow. Woo first excursion out of Edinburgh! It was very easy to get to and only about a forty minute journey. For the most part we stayed in the touristy shopping area so we didn't get to see much of Glasgow but from what I did see, I'm happy I decided to study in Edinburgh over Glasgow. Edinburgh just seems to have so much more character, although I would have loved to explore Glasgow more.

These guys were the highlight of my Glasgow visit. Made me wish Walter was with me!

We celebrated another MC birthday later that night. The theme was "anything but clothes." Best costume had to go to the guys wearing cardboard boxes with cardboard shoes.

Ellie, me and Lina.

The rest of my week was pretty mundane. I gave a presentation this week in Scottish Art and one in Sexual Politics and I have to give one in Caravaggio next week, so for the better part of my week I've been working like a dog.

On the plus side, I'm going to Dublin in less than two weeks! I'll be there for five days and will get to see my friends Gina and Mary from high school. Gina is studying in Denmark for the year and Mary (fellow Tar Heel) is at Trinity for the semester. Sarah will be in Dublin for the last two days of my trip so I'm excited to be able to do lots of touristy things. It will be my first time in a hostel (and alone in one for a few nights), so pray for me!

I've also just planned a trip to London in November. Soooo excited because I get to see and stay with my friend Molly (another Tar Heel) who is studying and interning there this semester.

A day trip to St. Andrew's is happening either this Saturday or next, plus another hike up Arthur's Seat and a trip to Edinburgh Castle so those are a few more things to look forward to.

Now just have to figure out when, with whom and where else I'm going this semester. I don't know my final exam schedule/final essay due dates yet but hopefully I'll know soon so I can also plan when I'm going home.

Speaking of the castle, the dance studio that I've been going to has a great view of it from the studios. And speaking of the dance studio, I was rushing to get to ballet tonight and in my haste, I either lost a ballet slipper in my room or it fell out of my bag on the way to the studio. I didn't realize this until I went to put my slippers on once I got there. It's not easy or fun to take an advanced ballet class barefoot or in socks so I left feeling deflated. There is a dance store close to my flat so hopefully I'll be able to get new shoes there. Besides all of the walking that I do here, dancing is my only other form of exercise so hopefully I can make it to ballet next week!

Off to make myself some dinner! With the value of the pound and having to fend cook for myself, I have a much greater appreciation for others who cook for me and the American food industry. I'll also be silently shedding tears on Thanksgiving as I miss one of my favorite feasts of the year.
