I arrived in Edinburgh on Saturday afternoon and got a cab to take me to my dorm from the airport. I don't know why but it hadn't really hit me that I was in the UK until I saw a game of cricket being played in a park by my flat.

While I checked into my flat's office to get my keys, an RA was kind enough to carry my bags up to my flat (I'm three stories up). I think he pitied me because I was sweaty and probably looked nauseous.

I was the first to arrive and then Ellie from England moved in about an hour later. Wang from China moved in later that night and Sarah from Georgia (who goes to…Puke Duke) moved in Sunday afternoon.

Our RAs in Meadow Court (which is where my flat is) had everyone meet up at 6 pm Saturday night to go to a pub. Little did I know this would turn into a pub crawl and I would have to stay out until 1 pm until I could go back with a group to try and find MC.

My first pub experience in Edinburgh was an Irish pub…ironic? We went to two more pubs and then a club. I had to fight my fatigue so I could bond with people from MC but unfortunately that caught up with me on Sunday when I finally rolled out of bed around 1 pm and felt ill.

Since Sarah arrived on Sunday and was tired from traveling and I felt sick, Sarah, Ellie and I took it easy the rest of the day and stocked up on groceries, crockery and random stuff for our rooms.

Today we ventured out to one of the main streets (Princes St.) to get phones and familiarize ourselves more with the town. Saw my first authentic Scottish bagpipers today! After walking around town, Sarah went to an engineering meeting and I went to the Visiting Students' Office to fix my schedule.

I have to take three classes while I'm here and they had only enrolled me in one so I had to sign up for two more. Unfortunately there is a cap on the number of international students per art history class so when choosing my two other courses I had to decide if topic or time/day of class was more important.

I'm currently enrolled in:
1. Scottish Art in the Age of Change: 1945-2000
2. Caravaggio: the man who came to destroy painting
3. Sexual Politics and the Image

They are each two hours long and only one day a week which means I don't have class on Mondays or Fridays!
